Hot barley

Long story cut 80 ton barley 13% . But full of self set triticale from previous crop . This was green . Anyway cut it now in shed ands it’s red hot to the point u can’t put your hand in it . So have spreed it around another shed a foot deep. Still hot . No drying facilities . Question is will it cool down eventually . I can feed but only if I can get it cool .

Had pedestal in but just clogging up with wet grain around it . Will anyone touch it at 35%

What moisture was it actually when coming out of the trailer?

Barley was 13% triticale be in the 40% but it was only self set I didn’t think there was that much . But now it’s don’t ask why I did it I ve no idea

Could you treat it with home and dry or propcorn

two trailers....one tipping one receiving and auger in between......bonus would be a windy day

Find a neighbour with a vented floor, but who are waiting for fit osr - trailer it in and run the fans for a week.

If you can't dry it you need to keep it moving to dissipate the heat until you can dry it. I assume the triticale has moistened the barley so separation isn't really an option?

sadly not if it’s as hot as you suggest it will just get worse quickly

Now blown hydraulic pump on loadall with barley all over yard hopefully the rain will cool it

ours was 32deg into store dry - been blowing with pedestals and down to 22 already - getting about 2deg a night out right now
