Toying with the idea of getting one for my holiday cottage but not sure if it would get too abused or would I increase bookings enough - any opinions? (currently getting 22-25 weeks of bookings a year)

Last thing I want is be draining urine away before the next bunch of guests every week....

who normaly rents your cottage, young couples? or old foggies? hot tub is a good thing but cant see older folks using it much

I think urine would be the least of your problems

I've got one at home if you want to buy it. Approx 10 yrs old, Beechcomber. We used to use it a lot, but not now.
I'm sure we could do a deal.
Would be a good selling point for your cottage, especially in colder months.

Next door farm (which is no longer a farm) is now 3 holiday units.
They each have an outside hot tub. Is it normal to have them outside?
My cousin has one beside his pool and the two are in a greenhouse type structure.

What are they? About 6-7k plus a 1k per year maintenance and running?

Thinking about 6-8 people.

Can't say my heart is in it much though but if it gets 3-4 extra bookings a year its worth thinking about.

you can get cheap inflatable ones for a few hundred, but suppose maybe need something a bit more up market for holiday lets

no problem having them outside, quite common in canada to see people sitting in tub n snow on the ground

Guests love em, will get one or two extra bookings / yr from it definitely. Don't buy a cheap one.

Quite a lot of upkeep, chemicals aren't cheap and its a faff to ph test and add chems to suit every booking + draining down and refilling. (metered water?) You must keep a record for EA just in case.

Reheating takes a lot of leccie. Make sure it comes with a *proper decent* thermal cover- saves a fortune in electric. Reheat on econ7 at night, or via solar in the day if poss, or both!

We have a patio area with infra red heaters and juke box, tub is used more in winter than summer!

Had one lot of guests dismantle and presumably take away with them the nozzles and jets from inside as we never found the bits?!!?!

Got a heap of compost about 800 tons not far from the house my daughter buried a bottle of water in the top , about a foot deep . Dug it up tonight really warm, i have drunk colder coffee before now.
Just a thought for getting cheap heat for your tub if you have space for a couple of hundred tons of compost and a bit of piping and pump .
