We stayed in a log cabin with a hot tub. It was a novelty. But the maintenance guy came around every morning to sample the water and then add chemicals as necessary. He said he changed the water between occupants. He said the worst thing was ladies using them without removing makeup (there would be a tide mark that was very hard to remove) and some people even having their dogs in there. Put me off having some at our cottages.

My advice @SilliamWhale would be to go and stay somewhere where they have one but to answer your question I'm sure you'd get more bookings. just not sure it's worth the hassle.

Total waste of time and money. We had a hot tub on the estate which we have in fact just got rid of. As we have three cottages there had to be a booking system, then there was maintenance on top of that. It's not fun having to empty and clean the thing out when some genius has decided to drunkenly tip half a bottle of Shiraz in to the water. Nor is it fun when you have to clean it out after half a dozen people all wearing hired Victorian costumes they got for a corporate fancy dress do had decided to jump in wearing all the garb. That's another thing, it's those people who use it at their own risk. Drink and hot tubs don't mix at all. (Yes that did actually happen at ours.)

Then you get the parents who think slinging the kids in the hot tub equates to the evening bath. Get in one of those things without having a shower beforehand and it messes up the ph.

I'm not going to put one in. Not worth it. Haven't got the time for cleaning out too often.

May build a traditional play area for toddlers instead. I think my out of season market is going to be granny and grandpa with parents with not yet school age kids. Holiday times already get booked easy.

Be careful with that, providing children's play areas is fraught with danger, no home made kit, only CE approved manufactured stuff, slides , swings and correct floor covering etc .Your insurers might (will) have something to say if you start providing play facilities.

Haha! just reminds me of one of the places we stayed over the weekend for a stag do.......it had a big hot tub.......we all got back from a night out, the landlady had warmed it up- so was encouraging us to use it!
we were pee'd right up and it wasn't long before some members of the group decided belly flopping from the balcony above was a good idea.........reckless and irresponsible :stop::LOL:

so yeah.....if i was running a hotel/hostel etc etc i wouldn't have one!

Does anyone ever have a shower before using one? Ever since reading about a Fife couple who were murdered in one I have not been that keen.
