I know this country hasnt got going bringing people in yet.

I have a vacant 3 bed house and want to offer it to refugees. Anyone know how to do this??

Also anyone else able to or prepared to.

If anyone genuinely knows any Ukranians already displaced have they any ideas how we can get them over here
Are you a CLA member? They were going to try and support members who were offering cottages etc and help through the process.

Does anybody know a point of contact for adoption or foster care?
We are in in a position to help with my mrs working from home as well as myself.
I have heard stories of children loosing both parents and being put on trains with a letter/note in there pockets describing their predicament.

My cousin's Mrs helps run a county fostering service in England. They've already been working with HMG, both fostering and adoption are being planned for; she thinks the emphasis will very heavily be on fostering, since it is obviously best for children to be returned to their surviving family wherever possible.

They are communicating directly with some Polish counterparts, and have found that the Home Office is being very helpful regarding unaccompanied children - which is reassuring, considering its slowness in other matters.

But, obviously, the Polish authorities have to make sure that there aren't family looking for the children at that end - and I guess in the other frontline states too - which is a hell of a job considering the numbers; and satisfy themselves that the receivers are valid etc.. She's not involved in it, but thinks that the Red Cross either are or will be the 'brokers' regarding the information about individuals.

I know SFA about this sort of thing but, with modern tech, I wouldn't have thought it that hard to set up a central database, which would allow such children to be safely settled somewhere, under the watch of local authorities, but still within the radar and on the books of the RC itself, in case any family come forward, anywhere. But I write from the comfort of ignorance, so I suppose it can't really be that easy - yet, if not, still find myself wondering why not...

I would contact the Fostering /Adoption team at your County Council as they will end up in their remit. I know in Leicestershire the County Council has already met with each of the Boroughs for planning meetings with regards to schools etc. Normally being approved - certainly as adopters - and matched is quite a long process. Probably quicker for approval for fostering as you are not 'forever family'.

Forms say you need names of sponsors.
What intermediaries will be gathering or forwarding these plus guess paperwork incoming immigration ,recording etc procedures?
Also noticed £350 a family (don't know if 2,4,6 is family size?) Gov.month help available?

Just had this email from Fieldbee.

They are the UKR company behind the Fieldbee software and hardware, for farm autosteer and recording etc.

Possibly of interest as they seem to have a direct link to refugees, possibly even some from a rural background? And can provide names as needed by UK Border mob

Dear Farmers,

First off, we would like to extend our appreciation for your generosity in providing accommodation for Ukrainian families in need (this is something we will be forever grateful for).
There are currently four families that are safe, happy, and well looked after by farmers in Switzerland and Germany.

If you too have a possibility to provide shelter for Ukrainian families, please get in touch with Natalie Utkina👇

Thank you very much for your support!

Hello everyone, hope you're well. Have any of you had any luck with helping Ukrainian refugees as yet? I'm putting together next week's Farmers Guardian podcast and we'd love to talk to a farmer or two who are actively engaged with helping. Have any of you been able to house anyone, offer jobs, or know of anyone who has? Perhaps you have been matched with someone but are waiting for them to arrive? I'd be grateful for your help. Thanks, Jez Fredenburgh :)

Notice this sent out by The Welsh Assembly:-

URGENT REQUEST
from Vaughan Gething MS, Minister for Economy
As you will be aware, Welsh Government is acting as a ‘super sponsor’ to enable Ukrainian Refugees to seek safe haven in Wales.
To support this nation of sanctuary response we are working to identify and secure suitable venues for ‘Welcome Centres’ for those arriving under the scheme. The welcome centres will enable us to provide comfortable, safe places for individuals and family groups to arrive, engage with services and settle before being matched to a longer term accommodation offer.
We are calling on partners in the industry to help us provide much needed sanctuary to people – including children - displaced by the war in Ukraine.
We are seeking partners able to work in partnership with Welsh Government, Local Government, public services and the third sector to provide sanctuary.
I attach below a summary of the type of venue and arrangement we are looking to secure. We do appreciate that there may be a need to be flexible on some of our asks but would highlight that exclusive use, or ability to have a very clearly defined separate area for our use is a key criteria.
We appreciate that you are about to enter a busy time, after a long and difficult period. We need to think creatively; partnerships between hotels in a popular area to enable one or more to take guests displaced by another offering itself for use as a welcome centre or reorganisation to release a wing for use for example.
If you would like further information or to discuss how you may be able to assist please contact us at
[email protected]

There is now more info on the Gov website about the sequence of events re: accommodation checks, DBS etc. I think local councils are doing these when refugees have arrived, that way they can find out the refugees’ needs regarding schooling, English language classes, benefits etc.
