What did you use in the way of autumn Pre-em / early post-em herbicides (if any) to avoid killing off the buckwheat and berseem clover?Elgar with buckwheat and berseem clover all at 5kgs. Direct drilled 9th August. No insecticides Apart from a dose of slug pellets.
All it had was a graminicde for vols followed by Astro kerb in November. Buckwheat was dead by then but it killed the clover. We think the clover released about 20kgs of N to the crop. What did you use in the way of autumn Pre-em / early post-em herbicides (if any) to avoid killing off the buckwheat and berseem clover?
Spring rape coming along ok in North Warwickshire. Some just germinated some coming into flower could be interesting.

Establishment was fine. What came after was less fine.
I don’t think they aided establishment, drilled it early into moisture and it grew (I lost some to slugs but that was my fault not getting pellets on quick enough).Any view on the buckwheat / clover aiding in the establishment then? Did they seperate in the hopper or did you apply the non-osr seperatly? Will you use the same mix this August?
Is that / acre planted or harvested? I think I might just scrape an acre harvested if I can get it all to ripen. Some of it is still bloody floweringif osr averages above 1t/acre in the uk this year ill be amazed!!!
Hmm. Can you dig some plants up, wash the soil off the roots & post pics please? Is this some of the magnificent crop you posted last autumn asking about pgrs?
