Do you suffer with flea beetle at all?

I don’t know what flea beetle is, so I can’t really answer . . .

we do have wire worm & cut worm which can affect emerging & seedling plants. They are a beetle larvae, so maybe they’re similar ? They tend to be more active in warm season crops planted in spring though, rather than cool season crops like canola we plant in the autumn. They do affect canola at times, but I wouldn’t say a major pest

our biggest pest issues in canola ( in this part of Australia ) are aphids & heliothis caterpillar.
Heliothis ( or heliocoverpa ) is the larvae of a moth & attacks the plant from flowering on, & specifically the pods. It is also the major insect pest of cotton, which is why GM cotton with the BT genes was introduced
Heli also have a very quick life cycle in warm weather

Sprinter, didn’t use the stripper this year Here because of logistics but the avatar /stripper method works well. All into chopped stuff this time.
Big area of winter malting barley next year so if we get better organised will hopefully strip it all and avatar drill.

What's the interplay between the stripper and avatar OSR?? Less trash lying around? It would strike me as being a lot less friendly for slugs and your drill will have less trash to push through?

Pretty much although slugs are still about I got lax and caught out on a couple fields last year. Disc drill and stripper works well, wouldn’t want to use a disc through a Matt of straw
