How are abattoirs, food processors, veg producers managing to function?

As above it must be very difficult for both business owners and the staff, as we are all human and wish to be responsible in the present situation ,yet do our bit to keep food on the table for ourselves and the nation.

On our farm in Lincolnshire we have a final batch of pigs that are waiting for collection and we have been put back three times in the last two weeks. Now we have to get more feed but we don't know how much cos we don't know if they will collect when they say. In Kenya we were stopped harvesting yesterday until Monday because apparently everyone has enough veg and will only start buying after the sell by date. Uncertainty is the problem Yesterday we picked 12 tonnes of broccoli and composted it today we will do the same so we will have stuff to go back to on Monday.
On the bright side my Son hit his sister with a hammer when he was changing the draw bar on the tractor and they had to go to A&E at Lincoln when they got there there were only two people in so they were treated immediately.

I spoke to the owner of a very large concern a week or 10 days ago, and he had - I think he said- 9% of staff off, but was still functioning. Might've changed by now mind.

Thank you Lowland 1, I found the above interesting but not very good for the veg farmers etc.

Mrs pom works for a processor, they are in the middle of potato storage at the moment and its al go, with the right safety measures, everyone has their temp taken etc. We don't have as many cases here yet so not too many off sick. The big problem is orders being cancelled as fast food businesses are closed, so production may be slowed.
Any veg producers not selling to supermarkets are doing it hard because their market has vanished.
Freezing works and dairy processors are still plodding along ok, I think.
Perhaps a good job we're nearing the end of the dairy season.
