How bright are these people?

The ones telling us all what should and what should not be done.

Take this as an example:

A fourth Sage member, Prof Calum Semple, said a "brave" political decision had been made to coincide with when schools were due to reopen "were everything normal", but warned that high levels of transmission were still being seen.

"Essentially we're lifting the lid on a boiling pan and it's just going to bubble over," he said. "We need to get it down to simmer before we take the lift off, and it's too early."

If you do not know yourself, ask the cook in your household how to fix a pan that is boiling over. In case you do not have a cook, the answer is "Lift the Lid".

If you do not know what you are talking about, do not talk about it. If you must use metaphors then use one that is correct.

I thought Johnson et al have been telling us from the beginning that they will “follow the science”

To me, a lot of these decisions smell entirely of politics

they have to
in an ideal world if everyone was completely isolated from everyone else CV couldn't spread, that would be the best way to stop it but that's not really possible cos things still have to be done so politics has to come in to it

Well I can see the economic argument but that is a bit of their own making by playing Nero.

You have to admire NZ albeit with a far smaller population

I remember the experts opinions on foot and mouth and bse , bollox all of it .

Or...

Just maybe the experts points out problems, consequences and therefore changes are made to avoid those consequences.
Look, I’ll even give you a couple of examples. Hole in the ozone layer, the propellant used in aerosols and the gas used for refrigeration were changed and the problem was reduced.
Bse, actually was a problem, so after the experts pointed it out, the feeding practice of cattle was changed and bse all but disappeared

Or,
Experts warned of catastrophic problems from the millennium bug ,so after thousands of people worked and millions of pounds were spent to avoid the problems a lot of people insisted the experts were wrong ??

That's partly true but who caused bse in the first place ? Meat and bone meal had been fed for decades without issue, whether it was the change in process or that and a combination of op warble fly treatment both were approved by experts, other experts said millions would die from nvcjd they haven't. "Experts" have knowledge of their subject but that doesn't mean they dont get things wrong and they all never agree on anything

The governments "experts" managed to cover their @rses by heaping all the blame on meat and bone meal. IMHO, there was far more blame attributable to pouring OP insecticide over the spinal column.

Don't get me talking about all that computer modelling crap that the same "experts" came out with for F&M

The problem wasn't disputed , the message was , 500,000 human deaths from cjd ,
This destroyed the beef sector , exports banned for years ,
The link between eating beef and cjd was never proven emphatically .
Experts my arse
