How can I remove wax from new crankshaft?

I've bought a new crank for my super major and it's covered in a protective wax. Whenever I've had parts with this in the past it's just peeled off, but this is stuck like sh*t to a blanket! Tried couple of different things like solvent cleaners and degreasers but nothing will touch it.
So, any ideas how to get it off?

Would have thought cellulose thinners would do the trick?

Heavy copper (4mm square stuff) wire through every oil gallery in the shaft, before you rebuild.
As you know the head gasket can be fitted upside down with no oil going to the rocker shaft in the head.
