Do you have the V5 for it?
Should tell you on there the tax class it is assigned to currently. If it's registered in the Agricultural tax class it should be as simple as sending off a V10 form to DVLA (Application for vehicle tax). If it's registered as Exempt or is in an Obsolete tax class then there's a few more forms to send off.

I was going to suggest Q plate if no number plate , thought be half way there if got original plate though ?

There's a form to fill in to get a v5, assuming you're going to say you've had it for years.

If you have a reg number on it have you done a tax/mot history check on it online? That will tell you straight away if it’s on the database. You then just need a v62???? Form to apply for log book. If it’s not on the database you would be better off joining the Case IH owners club and the club secretary can then do the correct paperwork with you and apply through DVLA to retain the original number. DVLA won’t deal with us plebs now!!!

Only if it comes up in search as active. Don’t send one if it’s not. I did and now DVLA have a black mark on the application!!!. Should of had the club do it!!

Did they charge you for the black mark? I haven't received a log book yet but the cheque has gone through.

No they sent it back with a letter, then when I re applied with what they asked fir they again refused. The club secretary has said that failed application are then a minefield! I have at least three tractors to sort this winter, more if people twist my arm and oersuade me to buy junk, sorry projects.....

You can either simply apply for a Q plate.
Or go through a lengthy process to get an age related number.
How long did it take to come back? We applied for V5 in early November on an imported machine and as far as I know cheque hasn’t been cashed now worried it was never received by dvla as we have had no correspondence at all and it’s been 4 months
It can be fraught as above owners club via serial number may be the best option. Risk on a low value machine is potentially proving provenance ok if you owned it from new and have the invoice less so if bought for cash20 years ago from fella in a field
