Water ballast as above, or wheel weights. If you don't need the balkast when pulling the trailer you get three point linkage weights designed for quick attachment and removal, Quicke did/do one on the same lines as the old Ferguson ones which hang from a bar on the lower links.

Water ballast or a quick hitch (you know, the triangle thingy on the lift arms) with a weight you can drop on and off easy. Problem is keeping room on the trailer to cart it with you.

Wouldn't go down the four wheel trailer route..,,, they can get a bit skitty with no weight on the tractor.

Linkage mounted weight is by far the best and the only type that relieve stress on the front axle. Not practical when regularly using a trailer with loader work though. Next best is water ballasting of tyres. It does improve stability of the unit very well but care should be taken not to overfill the tyres and to add a suitable antifreeze.

What make of of tractor are you using and is it 4wd? What bales are you planning on lifting? Straw, hay, haylage or wet bales of silage?
It’s a 4wd zetor, I try to get dryish silage but anything other than haylage throws it round , I put water ballast in and that was ok but over the year I ended up replacing both back tyres, the side walls were perished anyhow but the water finished them. Would water ballast speed up the decline of my new tears or do you think they’ll take it?

How do I weigh down my 80 hp loader tractor without having to buy wheel weights but so far can still pick up a bale trailer when I’ve loaded it with silage bales? Any ideas ? Thanks
Linkage mounted weight that you drop of before picking up the trailer.

What more do you want?
but I’d need two , one at the other end
