How do you carry your reels and posts?

How does everyone with a four wheeler carry their reels and posts?

I have tried a couple ways in the past but it usually breaks due to rough lanes/vibrations/poor driving.

Currently this is what we do. Zip tied some tarp straps to the rack to hold the reels on.

Currently this is what we do. Zip tied some tarp straps to the rack to hold the reels on.
Aluminium box on the back, holds about 50 stakes. Reels on front frame of bike, advised to hold them on with a bungee!
 
The purchase price and cost of ownership are way too high. Had a pioneer here that was an absolute money pit. Also ran Polaris on other operations and have not been impressed. Don’t get much for what they cost.
I’ve had a Kioti since 2013, owned it longer than I’ve owned any quad. There’s nowt very special about it, quite crude infact but other than servicing the only other maintenance cost was the gear change went stiff fairly early, a known problem to the dealer who quickly stripped and lubricated the shaft going in and it’s been fine since.
It cost approx double of a quad new but the fuel savings so far have more than paid off the extra cost above a quad along with the convenience of having diesel stored on farm. Also as I touched on above, maintenance costs have been low, lower than any bike I’ve had.
For use I find it much better because of the carrying capacity in the back and the cab that protects me from the worst of the elements along with the ability to carry a couple of passengers on occasion.

There’s nowt special about the Kioti, it was bloody expensive for what it is yet it’s still far better value for money than a quad, the only thing it really lacks compared to a quad is performance, it ain’t going to get you anywhere in a hurry.

About the same way as you, @Dead Rabbits, but I carry my posts up the other way because the spikes catch on the grass (poke through the footboard thingy) and putting the pigtail end down there works better. Generally I only use the quad for when I need to tow the trough to a new paddock, otherwise I just carry them.
Have a UTV as well but it's way too much for everyday use, joys of a small ranch where everything is a quarter mile from the house

Glad it is working for you. Lots of people like them but I sure don’t. Not that 4 wheelers are much better but they do run cheaper. Gas is cheaper than diesel here.

I’m sure if it was mainly just me running it I could make anything last 10 years. Trying to instill that same value structure into others doesn’t seem quite so easy.


This is the only UTV I’d want. Cab is junk though. Lots of the parts interchange with the old jeeps that have been made forever and the mahindra diesel is pretty well proven. Has an actual transmission, clutch, transfer case, solid axels etc.

Yeah I have also had them the other way but if stacked correctly there is no issue. Nothing really beats walking but once the farm is a certain size it’s no longer practical.
