How do you make a MF35 a better starter?

Have a 4 cylinder MF35 which can sometimes be a challenging starter - are there any upgrades to the starter motor or anything else that will help?

@REStracTORATION @multi power

Thankyou for any advise you can offer
Yes there is simple ones are
A high amp battery
And high speed starter (if they fit now) had a run of them not fitting correctly.
Pump timing and a good heater plug.
Clean air filter and check tappet clearance.

Other than that
Head off drill head out slightly to make it more direct injection
Rering it and valves if compression is down

Fit 4 glow plugs looks awful but...
Or an allis head

If it's to look original then some of the above is a no no but if it's a worker then it's good

Thanks, the engine was refurbished 5 years ago - it doesn't do a lot but it's handy & nice to have so just want to make it easily usable.

Could you point point me in the direction of a high speed starter?

I'd love to send it to you for a birthday but funds don't allow at present!

Also to add
Possibly get fuel system checked is injectors/pump
Then engines from my experience were quite prone to wear think I have some engine kits in stock (y):p
But have had great success with drilling heads out
Then 10 secs of heat and fires up

But try the simple things 1st you never know

Is it a grey gold
Or red grey

I will find a starter part no
If engine was done 5 yr ago then that side should be fine

check the simple things first, is the battery a good one, or is it a little down, good should show about 14volts when fully charged ,
is the battery cables good and got good clean contact to starter and earth,
Is the heater plug good? Also don't heat and try to start it at same time, heat first, then turn key other way to start, reason for this is, as the heater glows and burns fuel it eats the oxygen, this makes air less dence, thus little oxygen to fire to start,
is the fuel system clean and free running, and getting plenty to pump,
if all the above is correct and right, and it still won't start, and you say its been done up 4 years ago, and to assume it is ok, then I would look at the timing, they need to be right, biggest problem is timing chain, as the chain drives the cam, that drives the fuel pump,
to do it right you need a dial gauge, put this on the valve rocker, and adjust timing accordingly, will go into greater depth on this if none of the above fixes it,
it won't matter if it's red or grey, they are both the same,

bloody good Engine if they are right, but in most cases them that say they are no good, just don't know how to fix them,

other thing is, most try to fix on a shoe string budget, if you cut corners, you might waste your money, as it will be no better,
