I'm guessing it comes into its own when programmed to only spot spray rather than blanket cover the whole crop ?
You can do that with a normal 24 m wide sprayer by shutting individual nozzles on and off as required. Well you can’t on mine but can on one that costs eleventy thousand pounds.
Most of this high tech stuff is “looking for a job” or create work in my opinion.

but how does a drone ever carry enough payload to do a significant area?

unless:unsure:

but look at the drift :X3:
I remember the days of aerial spraying with the yellow biplane around here. Very impressive how he could fly under the eiectric wires. That got banned because the public didn’t like it. Can’t see killer drones being much more popular. Complete waste of time.

Who says it has to do a significant area ? Ever evolving agronomy and technology will allow the worst 1% of a field to be identified and nipped in the bud, as it were.
I digging out Buck thistles the other day and it did occur to me that an autonomous robotic spot sprayer might be able to do it. But why can’t it just run on tracks on wheels? What’s the point of making it airborne?

Less likely to be nicked/ fiddled about with ? Guess you would watch it from the sofa and zoom it up in the air if a ne'er do well appeared ?

so you've got a 25 acre field (quite small by arable standards).....thats 100,000 m2.....1% is 1000m2.....10th/ha.....100l /ha.....so 10l required.....a drone can barely carry itself never mind 10kg

I struggle to remember to plug my phone in to the charger and can’t remember passwords. Dealing with 20 drones would be the stuff of nightmares. Imagine cleaning them all out between crops or blocked nozzles. What about powders and crap that is difficult to dissolve?

What is the payload or a US Reaper drone.... can carry 215Kg for 12 hours is the official claim I think. Anything is possible, for a price.
