How far off is harvest?

I hadn't quite finished cleaning the drier/in-take and out-take pits in the hope we wouldn't need it for a while yet...as of this morning I have now finished cleaning it all in an attempt to invoke sods law that we won't need it at all :D Getting the feeling I might do though, not sure I want to start at 22% moisture though. Don't think our wheats are 100% ready yet either, its the huge 25 ac of OSR I want to get in and out of the way!

Skyfall here was 22% at mid day, not 100% fit, so not panicking just yet. Friends next door reckoned his was 18% at 5pm, not sure if he cut any this evening mind.

No wheat here is anywhere near fit and wont be for a fortnight. Even then there wont be any panic here. Perhaps the fact that there is a week of July left has passed some by - and I'm considered impatient! Spring oats turning quickly but delayed, uneven germination makes it likely they will get some encouragement to ripen. Hoping to get the last 175ac of rape cut soon as it has had 2 weeks and 3 days since spraying.

Managed some more winter oats this afternoon . Down to 14% and yielding better than I expected . Shame there's rain tomorrow , as another good day would finish them.

I was told I was being impatient with the barley. Now have this starting to happen:

this is a normal aug/sept harvest year for us 1/2 a day combining mist and rain for 3 factor in the occassional breakdown, at some point we will get 2 consecutive dry days and nights when its 24 hrs continuous more than likely a weekend just that its still july the only saving grace is time is still on our side as its not yet october

Don't worry the old boys used to tell me there are always two or three days in November when you can go combining.
Never had to test it yet, but have been mid October.

Sell as Pre malted ?

.......Sorry .....is it lodged ? How long has it been ready do u think ?

It's not the whole crop by a way, but it's still enough to be a problem. It is lodged in part. Been reading 20 days now. It's the last 15 acres of one block that we never got back to after breakdowns. It should have been cut easily by now, but so many breakdown problems happened that all best plans were ruined.

Fecking weather. As soon as the kids knock off school for the summer it p*sses down until they go back in early September

300 ac of osr still to cut before I can even think about anything else. I'd like to get the turnips spread into the wheat if it ever stayed dry enough but I can't until I know I can cut the crop a few days later.
