Malting barley is going to get wet anyway and 16% was always good enough.

Before the sad demise of the 4 Bushel sack, 18% was always good enough.

yea the standard 16% dropped to 15% to nick it off us , who agreed to that? not me , but we ageed to it or sombody did.

Changing it back to 16 would be a massive carbon footprint saving, and help with NFU's net zero target.

ALWAYS get an independant test on the sample if you think it is not right. Usually the claim is dropped. If the mills and the merchants know that you will always get an independent check they will think twice about going for a claim. If you know it is a dodgy load however then put up and shut up

get my moisture meter checked regularly with new crop grain never trust the calibration on old stored grain
then when out loading get a sample checked of actual grain we send
recalibrate moisture metre on a daily basis

helps having a properly checked grain lab within a mile
if they say it is 15 never get a claim

this year combined wheat has come in at 11.9 and 18% as tested at openfield
my moisture metre read between to low below 12.4 and and 18.9
every trailer load tested and recorded field store time and date
5 trailers loads amalgamated samples bagged and tested by openfield as a reference for quality moisture will be checked when dry and at out loading

we all need to be professional and then when a load gets allowances know the score and contest any deduction from a strong position
