How long before baling can you apply additive to the swath?

A neighbour does our silage baling and wrapping but has never applied any addative. Rather than me buy an applicator and put it on his front lincs and wire it in each time I was thinking about mounting it on my front linkage and have the pipes running to the rear of the rake to apply it to the swath. Will this work or will the additive evaporate or breakdown if applied to soon before baling?

always did ours with hand pressure sprayer on quad bike , baled in 15 mins , , not sure how uv light affects the product if applied to soon ,seemed to work ok

I normally begin raking the evening before or 2-3 hours before the bailer arrives.

So that's where I've been going wrong!!!!
Always the other way around here.

Never wash the inside of the baler. And if need be, prime it by:

1. Unrolling one of last year's good bales, and rebaling it, and/or,

2. Mixing up a sachet of Lactobacilli and using a clean knapsack sprayer, spray the baler thoroughly to prime it.
