How long before fert kicks in

Probably a silly question but how long after spreading will fert make a difference and get things going . My dilemma thus now do I get on and get fert on grazing ground . My ground is later type . Cold wintry weather on the cards next week with hard frosts. Do I get on now and spread or wait until weather improves (warms up)

The price it is l would keep it in the shed, lm up in Central Scotland later place, phoned about similar stuff, like yours and up 50 odd£ on the year, l you wonder where money goes.

Get it on, itll be there when the growth comes. So many people wait until it's good 'growthy' weather and take great delight if it comes cold after early neighbours sow but generally early sow = early mow. Maybe not much difference some years but other times theres plenty of growing days then a cold snap then the growthy spell.
Long story short, never known early fert not to work but stuff still in bag sure as hell won't!

Put some on 28th of feb and took about 2 weeks to see an effect. Some went on 10 days ago as was too wet to travel first time round and seeing an effect already. Early grass really starting to motor and decent covers for lambing. Been tested since before Xmas

I have two grass fields next to each other and one got fertiliser 10 days before the other. The colour difference is night and day between the two, both are also the same type of temporary ley.

Okay so thinking I’m going to put some on round the steading fields where we calve our sucklers outside generally approx 50 acres and leave the rest for better weather coming. This probably won’t happen as once the first bag is cut it’s a race to the last !!

Putting it on here today. Neighbour did grazing fields 2 weeks ago and much greener than mine. Roadsides growing, hawthorn greening up and silage is only 9 weeks away
