How long should a machine last

I keep telling you guys that JCB are selling too many machines to give a flying fudge about any individual one. With superior machines available from competitors I have no clue why you would ever buy one.

'Ah but it's worth more on trade in'... Yes, because of their popularity amongst the foolhardy. They are also more expensive to buy and run.
Absolute Hogwash!

Because they are in fact the most reliable tractors and loaders we have ever had.
I’ve even had our accountant ring me up and tell me they are the most cost effective brand we have ever had!

So you operate 3 JCBs because you like them, you aren't trying to argue they are not poorly screwed together?

Yes we like them.
Yes the build quality could be massively improved - but so could all makes.

We also have 4 Fastracs, 4 Deeres and until recently an MF.
The JCBs have had their problems, but no more than the others, and we’ve never been more than 24hrs before being fixed or having a like for like loan machine from the dealer.

I operated a tree harvester, with a 6.7 litre Cummins engine, serviced on the button every 500hrs, 1st engine ran a piston, at 8353hrs, 2nd engine ran a no4 crankshaft shell at 8342hrs

Pertinent thread. If you want something doing go straight to the top of the food chain.

Ignore the restraining orders and the pepper spray will wear off, tasers don’t hurt too bad - and everyone will wee themselves sometimes.

In my experience I have found Lord Walker of Chesterfield very approachable. He has his lackeys and minions but will happily engage in negotiations.
Ive heard he expects customers to bring him bloody cake now as well.

which is a problem,

Cos not only do I have to own up to the scary finance lady about what I’m buying next, but also have to ask her to fire the cooker up and bake sumat too…..

Sir @Nearly of thirsk is very close to being on the hook. Tough customer though. It could take a full packet of hob nobs to crack him
