Here's another tale from the past...1965 on my year pre college boss bought a s/h Super Major and TS82 two furrow reversible, no cab, manual trip of course. Tractor driver set off to plough a fairly heavy 7 acre on a slope, boss was hoping he might finish it in the day. 12 noon lunch time he came back in the yard, boss says what you broke now? With great delight he said, all done and the headlands too !

They should all start with a manual turnover
What's this turnover you talk of? how can a plough plough properly if you turn it over?

It also would depend if it was a 10" or an 8" 3 furrow Fergie plough, as they made such a beast, very popular in the Fergie Class (minus the extra furrow) with those that know.

We ploughed a 30 acre field with 2 Fergie 2 furrow ploughs to get them all set up and shone up (brash doesn't shine a plough like some sand!!!) But we did it over last winter on the odd day here and the odd day there, when the weather was nice and the going wasn't too sticky, so couldn't really tell you how long it took. I just looked at the 118 acre field next door and thought how lucky we were not having to plough that bugger!!
