The Bunter PM now has FOUR flags behind him
The worse things get the more he seems to rely on the nationalist card

But as he is of Turkish ancestry the cross of St George is probably more appropriate.:D

Alot of the pollyannas seem to have them too, when being interviewed via zoom.
Symbolism? Virtue signalling to Bungling?

Maybe all just Rangers supporters and celebrating the first title as Newco.

Go to the states you will see many houses flying the stars and stripes, go to France you will see their flag on many public buildings, watch many press broadcasts round the world and you will many gave flags, funny how that appears to be ok for everyone except the uk or actually England in which case its nationalistic and wrong.

I was going to write that you see a Lot of french flags here, but then they do keep winning football tournaments.
My FIL who doesn’t like to « bow down » got himself in a lot of trouble during the 70’s/80’s... refusing to wave soviet flags😕

Currently Trump supporters are flying the flag upside down, in protest at the “stolen” election.....

Exceptionally lazy National pride seems the default here
Stick the flag up, let it hang in tatters for the next ten years
In many other countries it is mandatory to lower at sunset
Do that here and I reckon that ‘pride’ will plummet

Most Political Leader make statements standing in front of flags. Perhaps he making a point of there been 4 nations in Kingdom.
Could be worse NI doesn't have an "official" flag apart from the Union Flag. Which one half of the current executive despise but oddy not the money from HM Treasury. We have the joy of designated days when the flag can be flown on government buildings.
The Ulster Banner ( Cross of Saint George with red hand inside a 6 pointed star topped with a Crown) used by the old NI Parliament lost "official" status when it was prorogued in 1972.

My point was the sheer number of flags - very North Korea.

With regard to national pride it IS quite normal in the Nordic countries to fly the national flag with pride. The difference is the flag is flown in daylight hours and lowered for the night. (In some countries - I believe all those you mentioned - it is an offence to leave the flag hanging overnight. Very often, close to us, many publicans leave a tatty flag hanging from a dirty flagpole month after month, year after year. That's a very lazy patriotism.

Perhaps he is....and perhaps my name is Donald Duck. To me, and I think to most people not living in an imagined glorious past when the world map was red, it is more than excessive.

To deliberately fly the flag upside down is a signal indicating a situation of 'DISTRESS'. It is also "lese Majeste" (which means: insulting the Crown), and is theoretically still a crime in the UK and its commonwealth!
The half of the flag nearest the flagpole, the wider diagonal white stripe must be above the red diagonal stripe, as Scotland's St Andrew's Cross takes precedence over (Northern) Ireland's St Patrick's Cross.
