How much are stockfeed swedes worth?

With barley hitting £200/t, I would have thought so too! Demand won’t have taken off yet though, and it will be in high demand for sheep in a few months time.
Don't tell me tell all the farmers selling them , I don't buy direct it's though the machinery ring , so they have a cut as well , they got plenty on their books
And if someone comes on a price question don't accuse him of robbing if you don't like the answers , did you see me leaving the bank with a hood on

Swedes are worth about 1/8th the price of barley on a nutrient basis.

One major advantage of swedes is that they can be tipped in a field and stay fresh.

A disadvantage is that if you get a bulk load, the weigh ticket will be enhanced to some extent by rain water, soil and stones - none of which has much nutritional value.

i stopped feeding beet when it was over £20 tonne,

over that i though i was either better off putting fert on but those were the glory days of £200 tonne fert, or keep feeding

i only use it if there not much grass after lambing, still think its cheaper to keep feeding them a bit even with high feed cost, plus the feed is mineralised etc.

Sounds like I’ll be running SF carrots again then! £10/t ex farm. Folk keep saying they’re no use but my ewes seemed too manage on them ok. Ate them right through May when it was cold and dry
thats the kind of price bracket i work at :D my sheep seened to like carrots last time i got some but that was a long time ago, there prob all kebabs now!

last time i had beet it was £15 tonne ex farm, that was around 6/7 years ago not had any since...

Carrots pretty good feed value, but what about all the leftover pumpkins, not to be sneezed at:

Its not just the anaylsis, its the palatability sheep love swedes, I have a spare pumpkin, I will try it with my sheep.:p

I'll thank you for the price Derrick.

I've taken all comments on board & delivered local or even collected from farm in small lots lots of hobby sheep farmers locally. I deserve a slight premium over those supplying 20 ton loads. Of course you are correct swedes need to be cheaper than fodder beet.

So £25 per ton is a very fair price.

Plenty of fodder beet around to buy, but ive never seen stockfeed swedes for sale. Is there much of it available to purchase, and how much would it be delivered ?

Too far for me.

I’d be a bit closer for you…

Good job lambs are a decent price, something every seller of stockfeed of any type, should consider.

With Harbro quoting near £400/t for a 15% ‘lamb finisher’, £35/t for beet seems almost too cheap…
Of course, the aforementioned company might be taking the pee biggly.🤐

Beet has always been priced relative to alternatives, but with customers queueing up & disappearing as fast as any signs of an early Spring.

Buyers if your after a price on beet don't ask a seller off ,😂 Some in Cornwall for £28 fair bit unpriced

I think I’d want a closer look before I got excited about that lot. Looks to be a few black & hollow ones, just in the photo?

But yes, there are always some heroes on Facebook. Do you price your hay according to the Facebook ads offering it at a tenner a bale?

My hay has been the same for 6 years at least same as haylage , I don't base it on the increasing price of wellys 😂
