I know a guy that did 2nd cut silage nearly entirely with demonstrator tractors and a handler. Took advantage of a new salesman.
He's no longer farming.
He's no longer farming.
A saving of £5000 for a tractor that has been driven by every clown who could drive it like he stole it , no thank you .
A farm near here had a Fastrac on demo on the day the salesman was going in holiday for a fortnight. Three staff took turns doing 8 hour shifts on it so it was hauling straw 24 hours a day for the whole fortnight. Salesman not a happy bunny, especially when they didn't buy one anyway.I know a guy that did 2nd cut silage nearly entirely with demonstrator tractors and a handler. Took advantage of a new salesman.

How much money did they actually save!?A farm near here had a Fastrac on demo on the day the salesman was going in holiday for a fortnight. The one we had was a new make to us ,from a dealer we had never spoken to from 50 miles away. Phoned for a brochure and he said we'd learn more having it to try . Left it with us for three weeks and we kept itA salesman once left us with a 7624 massey for a few weeks! Eventually just took it back.
He's a good guy who I would consider a friend. Would have probably bought 1 if he didn't leave the company.
Plenty around like that tbh.I was in dealers office a few years ago, having an informal chat, he had a call and asked if it was ok to take it. No idea who it was, but the gist of the conversation was "have you got any demo tractors" "what are they - could do with something around 120hp" "got some ploughing to do, could I have it for 3 days" Dealer then had obvs smelt a rat, and suggested visiting to tell him all about the brand and tractor etc, and give him some prices so then subject to the demo being satisfactory, he could get the ball rolling - reply along the lines of "Oh I won't be buying one, can't see the point of buying new tractors, just thought if you had a demo you might like to get it out on farm with me"!! Incredible how some people operate
People used to have a skid steer on demo for a day to clear their awkward sheds for freePlenty around like that tbh.
Seen pictures on the demo thread, not looking at changing by had a demo in anyway.
Maybe all demos should be paid for and then credited back IF they buy a new machine of any brand in next 6 months.
I would be happy do that tbh.
Countin depreciation on a new tractor at 10 an hour for round counting that works out at a poteneially 3360 saved. Probably had the local gang of red bull drinkers driving it for standard rate as the thrill of driving a new fastrac all night making tiktok videos would be "lethal"How much money did they actually save!?
Sound like a bunch of idiots running a tractor 24 hours for a fortnight to clear straw.
Even harder to abuse a demonstration tractor these days as thanks to the linked software the dealer can now monitor what is going on with their tractor remotely.£5000 is £5000
good to see farming doing so well that’s loose change that can be ignored
you can’t really drive a tractor “ like you stole it” and i’m sure a dealer will ensure good maintenance and and repair better than most farm owners would
They were buying hundreds of acres of standing straw, four hundred on one farm, forty miles away for their own use and to sell on. Saved using their own kit for a lot of flat out road workHow much money did they actually save!?

I think JCB own demo tractors, no that, that makes it right. They were buying hundreds of acres of standing straw, four hundred on one farm, forty miles away for their own use and to sell on. Saved using their own kit for a lot of flat out road work
No but it could be coupled up to a trailer too big with knackered brakes full of dirty oil. It could be put on an implement too big for the tractors capability or overloaded on the road so it revs right off the clock when descending steep hills. Very easy to knacker a tractor around here maybe less so in a arable situation.£5000 is £5000
