How much hardcore?

Just wandering how much hardcore I’d need to make a 3.5m wide track, 6” deep and say 100m long?

I’d be using 4” down limestone?

Or how far would a “20 ton load” go?

IIRC, crushed limestone is 2.2t/m3.

3.5m wide x 0.15m deep x 100m long = 52.5m3

52.5 x 2.2 = 115.5t.

I’ve allways worked on two ton per cubic meter when working out stone requirements

It did make me chuckle though, a post by Dirty Harry asking about hardcore.???

That’s cheap, last load of 40mm down I had was £10.50/ton about 18 months ago,

I’m surprised @Bald Rick hasn't commented yet ? usually any mention of “hardcore” how many “inches” or what “thickness” all in the same sentence is a recipe for moderation ?

I allow 9m3 a lorry, I don’t get hung up on tons, work off volume.

in our neck of the world there is no recycled stone about which will cause a headache soon. I get sad paying more than £120 a load, virgin will be much more than that, long tracks gets expensive, we work on £20 a linear meter I think

Not all crushed limestone makes a good road!
some will go to slurry when it gets wet, been there got the tee shirt

40mm clean is about £8.50-9 a ton, plenty dear enough !.

I must be buying in the wrong place.. Last load of clean 40mm limestone I got in December was 13.50 +vat/ ton. And 70mm to dust limestone ordered last wk was the same price ?
