80% seems quite high to me.

No holiday to pay for
No commuting costs
No daily retail food shop, back to basics
Kids not on packed lunches with pre packed yogurts or food more basics.

No clothes shopping, no cinema, no betting shop, no football tickets.

What percentage should it have been set at given it will cost us all eventually!

Probably seems high to a minimum wage supermarket clerk serving infected people who are getting a lot less than those sat at home doing nowt

This is the thing. How many of those laid off on 80% pay could have been repurposed into the labour market elsewhere as keyworkers?

Pub staff for example - it's not a huge change to go from that to working in other parts of the food industry like the jobs supermarkets are creating currently.

The 80% or whatever was set at a level that the majority of ordinary folk would feel safe. It is designed to prevent civil unrest as the government closes down the country. We see this eveing McDonalds closing. I anticipate most or all takeaway outlets will close by next weekend. So the poorer in society have less reason to take to the streets. A blinder by the Johnson government,

OK - they have to sort self employed this week

And then this enforced business closures might force into the open the illegal black market workers we are always told about (by Farage mainly) Their employers will have to declare them to get the money - doubt that. And if using illegals I doubt the emloyers will be that bothered about them - cast them into the streets. And as a lot are supposedly working in the service sector there will be no where else for them to go.
Fascinating.

We should expect an increase in theft from empty business premises that have had to close

unlike a lot of farmers most people do not have most of their bills paid by their business

from previous threads what the average farmer thinks he lives off is VERY different to what he actually lives off

i think 80% will be tight fur a lot - remember the cap is also £2500 so for a lot of people it’s not actually going to be 80% - not even close in some cases yet those people will still have many of the same overheads

also this is not just about helping individuals- they need to keep enough money in the economy to stop it stalling

But also most farmers don't "waste" money.

But as we have now seen, money makes the world go round.

sounds a bit out of touch to me ! for most people rent it mortgage alone is a huge commitment before they have chance to waste much - if you say they “waste” 20% on average the 80% wage is about right and as i say it’s not 80% for a lot as a lot of people earn more than the 2.5k cap

money does make the world go around and if not enough circulates we ALL suffer

Mortgage payments suspended

So that's not an issue
