Anyone any idea or experience of letting a fishing pool to a small angling club, they stock it so minimal input from us?

I know nothing about fishing so no idea what it may be worth.

Will them using it have any effect on your day to day business i.e. is access through your yard? If so, charge more. I suppose it depends on how many of them will be using it and how often?

Depends how many people can fish it I suppose. A ticket at a "public" pond will be worth £5-£10 a day. Would need to be cheaper for the club.

See what they offer - could be surprisingly good.

What size / depth is the pool? Is access to the waterside free all the way round the pool or is it overgrown / totally blocked by trees / bushes thorns etc? Car parking for anglers? Access road / track / path to the pool? Path round the pool? Pegs in situ or will they need to be created? Is it fenced off to prevent curious livestock stepping on expensive fishing rods / poles? Would you allow night fishing, use of gas stoves to cook bacon / sausages make a brew etc? Time of day and night of access and egress? Maximum number of anglers you would be happy with being there at once? Any existing fish stocks, if so what are they? Any otters / mink / cormorants / merganser in the area? Would it be coarse / match fishing, fly fishing or specimen fishing? Would you provide and empty litter bins or would the club? The question of bailiffing would need to be answered. Would you your friends / family / workers etc expect or want to fish there? Would it be free or would you pay? Any shooting on the farm or island or islands in the pool?

Pool is about 0.5acre I think, don't know how deep. Already set up with 8 pegs etc all set up previously by the club, who have fished it under the previous ownership for at least 15 years but their lease ran out last October prior to us purchasing the land. Parking is on roadside verge, path cut and maintained by club who have sole access, pool surrounded by arable, no livestock interference or shooting. Basically the club have been responsible for the whole thing so far and the previous lease did state that fact, but was only £600/year which doesn't seem much if they have a decent number of members?

I haven't been in touch yet so don't know how many members they have or how many fish it regularly.

So 10 pegs if they are lucky & a pleasure pond only, think the size and their management reflects the price they have paid so far.

Off the top of my head £500 to £750 sounds about right, depending on stocking levels and the size of the fish. If it has a lower density of good sized carp in or lots of smaller carp then the rent should be higher or with a few big fish a small syndicate may take it on. With small pools I have found that only a small number of a large clubs membership will be interested in fishing it, especially if it contains small silver fish. If you wanted to test the water with some other fishing clubs and see what they might be prepared to pay I can suggest some that have waters in your area.

i would sooner let it cheap to a local syndicate who will police it , rather than trying to get the max and have everyone and there mate about. Litter can be a big problem on some pools when not managed right.
£ 600 sounds plenty for that size water.

£600 with only 10 members sounds very cheap at £60/year/person. Bearing in mind what people spend day to day on useless crap I would have thought that each member could chip in at least £100 to have their own private fishing lake with their mates.

Thanks all for your interesting views, I must admit that like @WillB I think it ought to be worth £100/member for their own pool. Hoping to meet them later this week so we shall see!
