Bought a couple of yearling AA bulls , normally would buy them at about two when bigger but liked these ones , currently they look very fit and I want to keep them moving forward in the view they will be working in July . They are getting ad lib good bale silage, good oat straw and some 16% protein cake How much cake should I give them?

My current AA bull was bought from a breeders retirement sale at 6 months old. We threw. him in with the cows and the old simmy bull with no special attention. First
12 months he grew steadily but was lean and lanky and you would not give him a second look. He then began to flesh up and the first black calves came when he was about 25 months old so he was serving at 16 months - still running with simmy.

Once we were happy with his fertility and progeny the old simmy went as a cull, and made more than the young one cost.

You require growth not condition, 4.5kgs should suffice. Don't turn out with the ladies to start, grass and a ration april/ may, condition will then come naturally.
