How much will Covid19 Inquiry cost (us the Uk tax payer)

Well it cost 100,000s of lives, that's the reason why the inquiry is going on.

If it works in pacifying what is predominantly a compliant population then job done, those who were previously power are guaranteed to continue to do so.

No Civil Servant or Politician will pay a price.

Total waste of time and money imo . Though there will be plenty of experts and legal types relishing the chance to showboat
I agree what can’t SAGE themselves review the actions taken, how, when, why in an open way based on no one is going to get blamed for any shortcomings but they simply time line what happened so everyone can learn. Yes over 100, 000 people have been killed by Covid but a blame game enquiry will never ever solve anything and waste taxpayers money. Where has common sense gone? Every country can look back and probably say they should have done things differently.

Yes it is important that we review, learn and prepare ready for the next time, which could be even more deadly. Plus there is a need for financial accountability as to exactly who has ended up with the tens of billions of taxpayers pounds with so little to show for it.

It is important to have an inquiry in order to show that the overreaction to a harmless virus has caused additional deaths and suffering.
An inquiry into why the previously established, sensibly put together plan for a pandemic was needlessly abandoned in favour of populist policies designed solely to appeal to irrational herd fears, desires and greed.

Now, why do we think it’s not going to run along those lines 🤔

They had an public enquiry for the foot and mouth outbreak the conclusions were the same as the enquiry into the previous outbreak enquiry

in the last 100 years there have been several pandemics and several near miss pandemics
the big issue is identifying the pandemic in the first week
but you do not want a full response to the near miss pandemic

we all know what we should have done after the event 20 20 hindsight is easy
20 20 foresight with 100 percent accuracy is impossible

Or more likely , as they did at the time of swine flu, buy a vast amount of PPE etc, stick it in storage and forget about it. Ten years later when they need it , they will discover it has all run out of date, dispose of it, then chuck big sums of dosh to their mates to buy some more

It's a money go-round. Best opt out.
