farmer on a bike

There are clearly big differences in culture between our countries in the way staff are rewarded and importantly taxed. Danish workers will need higher pay rates to cope with much higher taxes and higher living costs. Danish farmers tend to have other areas where they have advantages over us such as bank support (I know that has led to indebtedness-which is a whole other discussion) and some other government supports (and extra regulation). Arla and it’s farmer owners are committed to fair treatment for all our work force. Remember under Danish law we also have to have employees as Directors on our board and in our board of representatives, therefore I cannot see how Arla could realistically stand up to this union pressure, since it clearly seems to have tacit government support.
