It's our own place so if it rots off it'll be me that has to put it back up anyway. It's Spanish oak sleepers we cut up to make the sleepers. Didn't realise you could get Spanish oak but one of the sleepers had a tag on it and googled it.
I think the time of year oak is cut effects the sugar/sap content therefore the lifespan of the post. Hopefully it's too hot in Spain to cut when the tree is actively growing and they cut in the middle of winter.
