you can mzuri straight into the rounduped grass sward, it might not look very tidy but it will work.
The less you plough the firmer and leveller the land will stay, unless you really want to plough..........or need to plough.
Dont know your land but we would hope for over 7t/ha for spr barley, 9 t/ha for winterbarley with good fertility, bit of muck and good agronomy

How do you find applying muck when Mzuri drilling?

1. Do you spray the grass off, drill it then spread the muck OR 2. spray the grass off, spread the muck and then drill it?

if you did 2. would you have to harrow ahead of the drill would the muck cause a issue for the drill? assuming a good mucking well within NVZ obviously :cool:

We use a claydon but you said your contractor had a mzuri, fairly similar strip till system anyway.
We have mucked (broiler litter) and drilled in, i would spray first to give grass a chance to start dying, then muck and drill.
Crop should come well with muck nutrients, nvz permitting! crop needs like osr in august or spring crops or late sept barley/wheat if ground conditions good.
