How to control soft brome

Just walk in the crop and find out if the stems are in the drill rows, if they are then you can be sure you drilled it.
Will look tomorrow, what do you suggest. Will pre harvest roundup make seeds unviable. Still very green at moment. Probably bang some in with spring barley and the rest stubble turnips

After harvest leAve it a month so all bromes are in the possible best state to grow light disc leave to germinate when grown round up light disc put light cover of wheat or barley say half rate spray with flufenacet and dff to keep it relatively clean from other grass weeds round up in spring as late as posible then disc and put you spring crop in . Just ideas.

Will be interested in the collective view of pre-harvest round up. Busy roguing meadow brome out of wheat and leaving the barley on this basis. My only concern is that we had it coming up through rape last year (!) and the following wheat crop is full of it despite desiccation, albeit later than we would do for barley.

Unless the levels of grassweeds are that high it will affect combining etc I am unsure that pre-harvest roundup will have much affect on the levels of weed seed growing next year. I would be making plans to change the rotation if the problem is that bad.

I am going to be a real irritant now and say, with hindsight (yes I always now what I should have done!) you shouldn't have grown Winter Barley as no Spring SU option. But grown winter wheat when there would have been options of Broadway Star or a mesosulfuron product, such as Hatra. I have found these do an excellent job in Spring, following autumn residuals. Sorry. I will collect my coat now.
Hatra is a Brilliant in WW that esp had no backend weed control.
