Surely you must have some kind of rotationNot had a rotation since 2012.
Do you find that the Rapid's discs push straw into the slot?
Amazone also claim grass seed will spread to 12 m, it won't I managed about 6 m last Autumn. I operate an all singing all dancing Amazone with GPS switch and weigh cell. I seriously doubt it would be any good at all it needs a 200 KG load as a bare minium before the automatics will work. Its absolutely superb with fert but the grass seed last year was a total nightmare, the on the move calibration wouldn't work at all.Had a look at at the Amazone fertiliser manual and they claim OSR will spin to 12m. Would a weigh cell fert spreader be better than a Stocks slug pelleter on the quad? We are drilling the main bit with the Claydon, but this is an experimental area.
Would you ever spin stubble turnips on? Thinking this year run the carrier shallow over the stubbles, spin on then roll rather than set the drill up.Question from someone who doesn't grow OSR but grows stubble turnips that seem to grow on concrete after a shower. Why is rape treated with so much reverence . Is it the price of the seed or something .
Do it most years. Run through with light cultivator then mix turnips with some fertiliser and spin them on, then roll.Would you ever spin stubble turnips on? Thinking this year run the carrier shallow over the stubbles, spin on then roll rather than set the drill up.
Yes i doWould you ever spin stubble turnips on? Thinking this year run the carrier shallow over the stubbles, spin on then roll rather than set the drill up.
I've heard of that done as well. It's just a case of getting a setting on spinner of such a low rate , often less than 1.5 kgs acre. Why do you mix with fert? Does it help spread better? What about spinning them on with the pelleter on the quad?

Could you try the 750A on its shallowest setting? At 6m it wont be much slower and the seed rate will be correct. Do you have a stocks applicator on it? Could put the seed in it and fert in the main hopper and get both jobs done at once.
You could mix the seed with slug pellets to bulk it up. Might make it easier to calibrate.
Going over with 50 units of N anyway so combining the jobsWhy do you mix with fert? Does it help spread better? What about spinning them on with the pelleter on the quad?
Quad. I have only tried once to patch a small area. It didn't spread much more than a couple of metres and OSR flowed far easier than pellets so was difficult to calibrate. Our pelleter is a bit rubbish though. You mean on the quad / fert spinner, or the drill?
Get just as good yields with spinning it on as others do around us that do a lot more tillage and drill methods . Now just home save seed spin it on a light disc and roll . no pre em see what is there and go from there.Had a look at at the Amazone fertiliser manual and they claim OSR will spin to 12m.
