How to find out Farm house for rent

sorry, very new to this but is there a way anyone knows if I can find out the neighbourhood farmhouse would be back up for rent? I've mailed the council the response said, colleague will find out and get back to you shortly. ITS BEEN A WEEK how hard is it to find out? I honestly think they should allow all farm houses to go up for rent for 6 months and if no one has interest then consider it to be built on.

Is it a council owned property?
Dont really think a week is very long for a response given most places including councils only returned to work on Tuesday
