So thats what the two orange sv1 and sv2 buttons on the armrest are for? Do they only work in stick mode or?
Cruise buttons, very useful. Set them to your desired speeds, set the engine speed above 1200rpm, shuttle in motion, press sv1 or 2 and the tractor will move at the set speed

You must be a very new user. These are forward speed memories, adjusted by the two similarly marked control knobs on the front-top of the side console. They are engaged on the go by pressing the button and disengaged while in stick mode by using the stick for a second or more, or by pressing the brake pedals. If using the PTO and using a SV memory, the brakes do not disengage the speed memory/ratio.
The memories for transmission ratio [SV1 and SV2] are not active under 1200 engine revs, so lowering revs is yet another way to disengage them. Also the 'Superviser' control knob adjusts the engine speed drop allowed under load before the ratios drop or raise back to the memory's set ratio

id imagine so but dont hold me too it. yeah on 7400 series cruise is SV1 & 2
what did it stand for Supervisor i think ? why not just say Cruise from day1 ive no idea.
left hand screen shows you the cruise presets or datatronic if you have that.
turn the dials next to SV1 & 2 on side panel with either activated on the armrest & watch what your tractor does.
Its a fab system once you know how to use it.
Leaves all fixed gear trans in the dark afterwards.

I think after SIX pages of jargon, SV1, SV2, pedal mode, stick mode, DTM, SV1 knob, SV2 knob, high range, low range, droop %, pedal mode droop %, forager mode, engine preset A, engine preset B etc etc etc we can all appreciate the Massey VT operating system is a complete horlicks of an idea.

Drive an autopower Deere and you’ll see how it should be done

No just never knew what the sv1 and sv2 did. The supervisor is handy, normally set it so engine revs stay at 1700-1800rpm pulling something heavy uphill

Why is pedal mode so bad on the masseys then? Unless I’m in the field I always use pedal in the New Holland. It’s just more natural and safer I think to drive with your foot, but there’s no switch to change stick to pedal, one just overrides the other if it’s used.

Have to say I agree with the above that the Massey set up sounds like a complicated thing to get the hang of?

Its not complicated, it's just @Farma Parma doesn't want to learn how to set it up correctly

I know that, I had one for 9 years. It wasn’t a user friendly tractor
Why do you say that? We've had at least one 74 for 15yrs now, currently looking for another to go on the hedgecutter. Very very simple, effective and reliable. Each to their own I guess.

I find forager mode brilliant on the hedger
Pedal mode is ok for lower speed jobs like round baling, cultivator etc but dead loss on road
Yes similar, forager mode brilliant for hedgecutting. We often use pedal mode on the road, particularly with potato harvester etc, leaves the right hand free to control the machine behind

Are all these vario boxes the say that say you slow down too quickly on a steep wet hill they'll lock the wheels?

I'm used to old style JD autopower and I'm finding this fastrac wants to lock the wheels where the JD's more forgiving and will run on a bit
