Since my cows are inside this year I have made a lot of silage my pits will be full after 3rd cut I'm now looking to sell my 4th cut how can this be valued fairly for both party's in the field?

((Nominal rental value / 52) x 6) + input costs = cost/ac + whatever %margin you like.

Take the sum and divide it by predicted yield and you have an approximate cost per ton/bale.

You wouldn't sell that equation to me not all weeks are equal

The first bit with the %age to cover variance is quite a fair way to value i think?
The second part i agree would need to be done nearer the time.

There seems to be lots of forage available already and I have purchased chopped rounds silage for £10 last week, it's a bit too good for dry cows though, may end up using it for fresh cows next spring.
