How to waste three hours!

Had our annual farm assurance this week (NSF)- took about two and a half hours with me rapidly losing the will to live! (lucky it was raining) The inspector noticed that I was looking at the clock and told me that most farmers lose interest after about 2 hours but that he was allowed three hours and could take longer! I am still trying to figure out the reason for some of the questions:- " Could I see a crop reccomendation from 3 years ago?"-Me- "Why, you would have already seen it 3 years ago?" "I need to see one" Next-" Can I see a fertiliser invoice from 3 years ago?"- Me-" Why, any fertiliser from 3 years ago has been spread, the crop harvested and the crop eaten" - Resonse- " I don't know-it's on my list!" Worst of all-we are paying for this complete waste of time!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Have you see the new OCT 2017 onwards updates :banghead:
I had a flick through yesterday,I hope @Clive reads up on vermin control.
Think I'm going to make some signs up to tell any mice too please keep out of my corn stores,as there is a possibility of them eating some mice poison, which could be detrimental to your health.
There you go RT thats my risk assessment:finger:
Sorry but I'm not going to wait for vermin to enter my stores and then see if I start to have a issues.
I'm going to keep baiting, mice or no mice.

That's right. If they get in the battle is as good as lost. Meet them on the outskirts of the yard and they won't get any further.

But RT don't seem to know that.

Reality is that until someone can make the powers that be at the NFU etc understand in laymans terms that this BS is getting out of hand and they need to start standing up for their members on the RT issue then things will only get a lot worse!

Threads across all sectors of the industry from dairy to pigs of farmers saying that the RT rules are just getting beyond a joke!

I was once told by an Australian sheep farmer he had no disease in his flock, (1000's) the truth was he never saw any dead sheep to examine how they died so how would he have known. Once dead they were eaten by whatever or were just left in the bush. He would have never passed any Uk Audit.

I wasn't there for ours but they wanted a recent soil analysis report. Office rang me and I made one up over the phone and that satisfied them.
I am happy with that sort of approach and I would stake a good bit of cash that my guess was pretty accurate anyway but does it not show how pointless all this stuff is?
Nothing other than meaningless box ticking really.

If you think this is bulls**t (interesting autocorrect Clive) as a birds eye vining pea grower as well as being farm assured we have to be members of leaf and complete the leaf audit questionnaire which is an internet based questionnaire which takes approx 3 hrs by which point you have lost the will to live let alone grow the blessed peas. Anyone else who has completed this I am sure will agree.

The irrigation part was just as ridiculous, anyone would think we do it as a leisure activity!
Irrigating is a pain at the best of times and not taken lightly, so having to justify it is bad enough, but then suggesting that the water from the ditch should be analysed goes way too far.:banghead:
Strikes me a townie jobsworth thought we'll add an irrigation section and then had to make up some poxy rules to go with it!
