crushed would have some 'air' in it mind. readymix out the mixer is circa 2.2t/cube I believeanyone advise me on how to figure out how many tonnes of crushed concrete i need if i need 46m3. a friend told me its 2t to every m3. sound about right?
artic? our local supplier uses 8-wheeler i think they call it. Its a 20t load. that sounds right?4 Artic loads should do it with a bit left over

At 1.5 t a cube you'll be well short! Work on 2t per cube for well compacted hardcore and you won't be far away!I work on 1.5 t to the cube but as said it does depend on the material. Still a good starting point in my experience.
Wish I had seen this earlier as a chap on our caravan site today was an engineer on the Keilder dam and explained the science behind its design. Who knew what can be done with clay.

Word was back in the day they ran sheep over the layers of clay to compact it with their hoofs!
