Was in Croatia in 2001. It was great then albeit rebuilding from the war.
Best memories were giving lifts to people who had been harvesting the fruit and taking it back towns to sell. Staying at a zimmer on Pag which had a wine producing operation out the back and getting a couple of bottles to take with us when we left and going over the Velebit.
Saddest memories the abandoned villages with just the old people left in them, and the inability to walk around these villages due to the risk of landmines, and refugees in coastal towns.
I presume you are in the East near Hungary by looks of arable operations, we only got as far as Pilitcie Lakes. Still have bad memories about burek though.
Should go back sometime....
