How would you steal a low loader trailer?

This was our low loader trailer, I overloaded it with posts and set off to the job, half way there the drawbar bent severely, we were on a quiet road between two small villages, so we pulled in onto the verge and unloaded the trailer on to another and left it hoping to slowly tow it home later.
Yesterday at 7.00am it was there on the verge, 10.00am still there, 5.30pm it’s gone!
Initially I thought some friendly farmer may have towed it to a yard for me but we can’t find it, nobody saw it leave, you would have a job to tow it with a tractor as the bed was nearly on the floor, you would struggle to load it onto a wagon on a very small single track road with a very small verge.
How would you steal it and have a speedy getaway?
Any ideas?

Check with PC plod. Had a flat tyre on MB Trac and forwarding trailer and because of size could not get oneuntil following day so pulled half off road and left overnight. Came back following morning and both tractor and loaded trailer gone. Reported as stolen only to be told PC plod had it recovered andfor a sizeable release fee I could have tractor and forwarding trailer back. Its just a racket with the recovery company.

If you pulled it ‘half off road’ then presumably it was dumped ‘half on road’ too? If plod considered it to be a dangerous place, then better it removed than cause an accident on a dark night maybe?

But yes, once the recovery guys get involved, costs start to escalate dramatically. There has been a lot of money made in that game.

How do they recover a tractor with a flat tyre?
