Following on from this - who makes rotavators these days? Put in a goggle search and all you get is garden stuff.
You need to Google 'rotary tiller or cultivator'. Suppose they're all rotavators to us but ''Rotavator'' is a tradename of Howard which is now part of Kongskilde which is part of CNH Industrial.
On a side note, always thought Howard was a British company but it would seem not. Originally Australian. More useless info............:wideyed:

There were several Howard companies.
The original Bedford England company made a lot of Agricultural equipment but did not make rotavators. They folded after WW1
Howard rotavator was started by a Mr Clifford Howard in Australia who had the idea of a motorised cultivator. Later as PTO became available he made trailed then mounted versions

Bet there are not many trailed ones left, must be near 30 years since I seen one

I spotted a Howard rotaseeder recently, long since disused and on a scrap pile, but complete and with a bit of tlc would be handy for reinstating draining jobs or peaty corners.
Any idea of what a sensible offer would be to make?

You can in fact get gaskets made for any machine however the cost can be quite high. the gasket you mention is available via Kongskilde, but it all depends on how much oil is seeping out. I have used a gasket glue for mine and there is no problem. But I did notice that the bottom of the gasket cover was wearing thin at the bottom, could leak from there of course and that would be a welding job.
Ours is the type U and parts are getting harder to get even here in France.

i used a tube of instant gasket and that sealed it, did an hours work with the rotavator and the bolts on the upper shaft inside the chaincase have started working loose, what will have caused this?, need to remove chain cover and start all over again with it now

my old howard selectatilh rotavator has started leaking oil from the side casing where the chain runs, what involved in curing this leak, can you buy gaskets for these still or will i have to use some sort of paste on it
I went to advanced auto. Bought a roll of felpro gasket material. Make sure it's the 36 inch. Best I remember the chain case is 26 1/2 in lgnth and about 10 3/4 at its widest. I used a razor knife to cut it. Worked nicely. Bad new is gonna have to find new nuts and bolts. After all those years of use some of them just snapped off under the rachet.
