Hp required for jd 381 butterfly mowers

As per title looking in to possibility of these mowers, would a mapped puma 150 (200 at the shaft same as puma 165/ new Holland 210) power them? Flat fields dairy multicut grass but they are heavy (2.5t) and been told they take some powering! Thanks

Nope.

Have ran a 6210r with triple MoCos and when I worked for New Holland we had a set of straight disc triples on a T6.180. I find when people say they haven't got enough power to run triples it just means they can't crack on at 14kph in every crop 2.5t is well within the lift capacity of the CNH, its not as heavy as a combi drill full of seed.

@Gerbert afaik runs triples on a 6910 Deere?

Yeah I run a lely butterfly with conditioners (900 mc) and a JD 131 frontmower. Lely mowers are really easy to drive though and I am organic and don't like heavy cuts. Also flat fields (netherlands flat, which might be different to your idea of flat).
150 hp on the shaft and going just fine. I can run 15 km/h in most conditions but tend to run 12 to 13, otherwise the tractor just keeps working to get to that speed (it's a cvt) and my fields are not that big anyway.
I do have to keep the rad pretty much spotless as the tractor runs quite warm of it's own.
I wouldn't dream of hitching on a JD butterfly though. I specifically bought the lely as it was light and easy on power.

I've seen triples on smaller tractors, you just won't be able to hit 20km/h in heavy crops. To be honest it is probably kinder on the machinery, the sward and operator's neck going slower anyway. Just won't get you many youtube views.
