Are these services reliable? I have recently been to look at a 2011 car that shows about 83,000 miles which corresponds with current MOT and checks out on three different mileage checking services as OK. However one shows that a DVLA record in 2014 as 46,000 miles but the corresponding MOT as unreadable and the 2015 MOT as 21,000 miles. Car drives and looks right for mileage. I even asked my local garage and they said it checked out fine on the systems they use.

If it is just the dvla register it could be when change of ownership happened some one put the wrong mileage in , the car maybe wasn’t handy when they filled in the doc and they took a guess , or the dvla computer could have miss read some ones writin* when the dod was scanned

DVLA not system not exactly fool proof. My car was being MOT'd at same time as a local taxi and the tester entered milage the wrong way round. Suddenly my car went from around 70k to 250k +!

Hpi is only as good as the info that is/isn’t added to it. Look at some of the cars shown on this page and the fact they won’t show any issues on a Hpi check
