Such a wasted opportunity, should have cut through to Aberdeen. Our useless politicians have shown the yellow belly again. The French cut these lines for a third of the cost.
These prats have just signed up to Cop26 but yet again have no idea of how they are going to meet the commitments , just keep their fingers crossed in the knowledge that 10 years time they will be sitting in the Lords and not responsible for any of that malarkey.

Part of the reason is France is much less populated and people look at the positives of these things, the uk is populated by nimbys

Sure they must, but the French Government does not mess about , if the Elysee says yes itis done. No faffing about for ten years , 3 changes of government and then Carrie changes her mind and grip!😂
They say , no worries we'll find you some more land , and they do

The new Bordeaux - Tours TGV runs about a mile from us , very impressive , did it in 3 years , must be 300 miles

I'd have preferred them to maintain /upgrade what they already have and save on the telephone number style expense of this white elephant that is causing carnage in its wake , you need to see it to believe the farce of the job on the ground and the destruction!
Need to be an MP to afford a train ticket as it is , the fares are a joke !

Have you seen the cost of the Western line and the problems that had!
We need extra lines to take a vast amount of these containers off our roads

The March to Spalding line - the lost key in the UK east coast freight system. Line closed 1982. Land sold to farmers.

Paid 53 euros adult return for a Friday am Sunday pm ticket on the Intercity Limoges / Paris for the end of the month. That's 800 km round trip.

Could not agree more. My son is at uni in Dundee. Anytime return from Devon £454. 8 hrs each way. We are an hour away from the station It took me 9hrs to drive there and cost £90 return in petrol with 3 of us in the car plus all my sons clothes, pots and pans, computers, guitar, bedding etc. Return flight to Bristol and bus back to within 20mins from home, under £100. HS2 is a white elephant and will cost the taxpayer dear. Complete joke.

I'd scrap the lot . rail travel is uneconomic now . heaven knows how much the fares will be after £ 100bilion is wasted
ive got land either side of Eastcoast line & never travelled on it.
Meant to add HS2 is such a waste of money, precious land the lot, pleased for those further north that land is safe now
