This is the sharpener i was on about earlier.
ive came across a right few tools for sharpening drill's and to me this was about as good as ive seen at a somewhat affordable price but thats still just over 1k mind but it will do up to 19mm.

Darex are the makers of the original Drill Doctor which in itself is about 1/6 of the price of a V391 so tempting in a way.

On the subjects of drills had a rough quote to dress/sharpen HSS morse taper drills this week. As a guide 20mm drill, £10 - £15. Makes buying a machine becoming cost effective very handy

That's very expensive, not hard with bigger drills its the small ones that suit a drill sharpener

We thought that it was extortionate to be honest but we must have 50 or 60+ drill bits that have been sharpened by every Thomas, Richard and Harry over the years and most have lost the correct angles and centre point etc and we just though that sending them for a pro sharpening would then set them up for years to come!!

6mm to 13 are easy enough on sharpening stone, it’s 30mm + that’s easy to loose the centre!!

I’ve been keeping an eye out for a sharpening machine and came across the above on eBay. Should be a good wee machine once a motor is fitted, im not sure how big a drill it will sharpen. If I was closer I’d likely take a chance on it but shipping to N Ireland makes it a little pricey.

We have something like that in corner of a shed, dad says it was for cleaning engine valves. I never seen it used tho

just an update on this,
in the end i bought a"drill doctor 750"
and have to say once you get the hang of it, it does sharpen drills very well, not a bad bit of kit really, although time consuming it must of run over 30 hours sharpening over 600 drill bits, till i got sick, and sold the rest, it is still on the first stone as yet, and works well still,
have yo say, it be used regular as only takes a couple of minutes once used to it to touch up a blunt drill,
thanks for the replies, but now sorted

I am wanting to know if any of the drill bit sharpeners on the market are any good ?

I have a lot, and I mean alot of drills that need sharping, far to many, but would be good if could get some done

Dont suggest doing it by hand, yes I can do it that way, but eyes are not as good as they were,

so is there a simple to use machine on the market, that will do a good job, and quick ?

TIA john

I have the bigger drill doctor might be called a 750x? The diamond wheel is fine way better than any abrasive wheel that wears and needs dressing each time it's used!

The only problem with it it wont sharpen every drill! Some drills of odd flute spirals which seems to mess it up. An example of this is the gold coated dorma drills.
Also the chuck that holds drills has plastic tabs or ramps on it to guide it against and in and out of the grinding wheel, these wear a little in time.

It has its uses but not sure it really justifies the price imo. One handy thing you can get for it is a left hand chuck left hand bits! Not got one yet but having just spent 40quid on 6 presto left handed drills it would be quite nice to be able to sharpen them!

With a bit of practice I can do normal ones by hand but left handed ones is an entirely new skill level?

There is a 3D plastic guide on ebay for about 8quid I think. I assume it clips or fixes to bench grinder?

Half thought of buying one to see if it helps or not.
