its just a deutz or same so cant be bad,the older deutz agrotons were dodgy the new ones great so a hurliman will be a good tractor.i asume you are dealing with tunstall tractors so if you did get a lemon they will look after you:)

Solid stockman tractor, proven Deutz Engine and Same Transaxle - almost entirely mechanical depedning on age and options so no Agrotron style complexity in these!

I havent heard of any major design issues, just usual inspection for this type of tractor and as Grumpy says Tunstalls have always received praise on BFF and other conversations.

Don't want to hijack the thread OT, but wonder if I could widen it slightly. Thinking about a Hurlimann XA86 or XA90 to replace a MF 4345. So any feedback on that model would be much appreciated as well

If you were doing a lot of loader work (baled silage etc) this XA range is quite lightweight, ~400kg lighter than your 4345 and the older 86 model even more so. Otherwise as per XB Max but these models use a liquid cooled SAME engine as well.

Re SDF stuff i'd definately be looking at an Explorer 3 / Agrofarm / XB / R3 for regular heavier loading jobs like that, especially on sloping ground etc. We have the same issue in that something Dorado sized would be handy on many jobs but having to use a weight block is a no no given that bale loading and carting is a one man and tractor job for us.

Well picked the tractor up today and drove the 50+ miles home and its a nice bus did a bit of work this aft and i like it so far, not many refinments and the cab is small but nice an d manuverable with plenty of tourque. Only problem is i cant sww out of the windscreen, like a lot of the econemy models its designed for a dwarf, even with all the air suspension on the seat let out i had to stoop to see the road in front of me and with no seat suspension i think in time my spine may compact enough that i domnt need to stoop anymore :(.

So the question is can you get a lower seat or is this very nice tractor going to have to be taken back and i will pick up the old faithful ???

On the bff, did you not say you bought a hurliman about a year ago? I seem to remember the pics and discussion! Have you traded it in for a new one.
Sorry cant answer the seat question, Personaly I dont like sitting low down in a tractor, being 6' 2 I like to stretch my legs!

No mine is in for some work and like all good dealers, i got a realy nice one to use while mine is away. Lots of pluses so very tempted to trade up but at 6'4" with the seat pumped up i could drive looking through the sun roof. with the seat on min air i can see tough the windscreem but the stupid sun visor is right in my eye line. If i do buy it that will be coming out asap, i cant see what use it would be for anybody over 4'6".

Been using it for cleaning a shed out today and the manovrability is amazing for a 100hp 4wd :)

Some air seats have 2 or 3 height positions regardless of air suspension.
if you lift seat up by hand and let go it shoud drop to lowest point, then sit in seat and pump up.

to raise seat you lift seal until it clicks, to reset lift to p top and drop .
your seat might not do this but worth a try. I dont think the newer seats do this but the older ones did.

OT the hurliman version tends to be better spec'd as standard than the orange and Green versions, so all might not be lost.

I'm pretty sure you can't lower the seat unless there's spacers fitted instead of a swivel base.

However the higher spec seats have adjustable damping as well as air. So even with the seat right down, your back needn't be wrecked.

If it has variable damping, it'll be a lever under the air compressor setting lever, that looks the same as the little knob for locking the fore aft "shuffle".

Increasing the resistance will make it much more comfy on rough terrain and your 6'4", err, bulk ;)

Usually weigh in around 95kg been around the same fighting weight for the last 30+ years and theres not a kg of fat on me either (y)

But thanks for the ideas i will have a look in the morning.

Didnt mean to offend Grumpy but i wonder sometimes who designs tractors and cars sometimes, but they definatly must be vertically challanged.
