Did anybody else go to the Hutchinsons direct Drilling day today up in East Yorks. The Marginal conditions certainly made some drills struggle and it will be interesting to see how the crops do through the season as each drill was block of its own and were actually drilling the same seed and at the same rate. To my amateur the Avatar and GD were very impressive with JD close 3rd but showing its age and lack of development to the Avatar so why would you buy a JD over and Avatar. Not a day for a Mzuri or Claydon with cutting discs then narrow wet weather tines. Claydon was better with leading tine and then wet weather kit but big disturbance. Ryetec 4th nothing outstanding but minimal disturbance. Not the conditions for the host farms Amazone Cayena Drill but good to see a minimal disturbance tine drill up against the disc drills just the full width roller at the back didn't do it any favours. Dick Neale very impressive and thought provoking as always.

What did anyone else think?

Lets just hope can get to see crops through the season

Very interesting morning, thought the talks from the Hutchinson team were very informative, the number of attendees indicated there's clearly an appetite to learn more about direct drilling and moreover the health of their soils.

Was a bit surprised at the number of hands that went up when the question was posed at how many were, planting cover crops and were already on the DD journey, expected a few more to be honest.

Would certainly agree with the above sentiments on discs verses tines, conditions weren't favourable to the tine drills, that said on the whole it was drier than I expected it to be given the recent rain.

Few pics from the event, I'll post some video when I've been through it all.
