The sales spiel in the current copy of Arable Farming from Dekalb would have you believe that hybrids are the only way forward but they would say that! Hybrid Palmedor HEAR got eaten by flea beetle just as much as home saved undressed conventional Campus last year that cost £50/ha less than the hybrid.

I'd take seed foc. I'd pay 25 percent if it got to four true leaves. 25 percent if on 1st Feb it was worth applying nitrogen due to low level stem pests. The balance on harvest provided it yielded over 3.3t/ha.

Alternatively, half the pack price to allow decent seed rate. Should have halved on the loss of Chinook in any case.

I’ve grown hybrid rape for a few years.allways planted first few days of August has a dose of n and it grows away.till this year.csfb had a good go at it and assisted by pigeons too.ripped half of it up last week and should probably have done the rest.yeild of remaining crop will be rubbish ranging from 2 inch to 4ft tall.last year im growing it.RIP osr
