Now Then..
I recently had to repair a hose in a Claas rake arm. As hose replacement required the removal of the whole arm and with a well seized in pivot pin, I effected a rather agricultural temporary repair. We used to keep a few reusable fittings for such jobs but the outer part is pretty specific to the hose size which was 5/16 anyway so couldn't do that..
So,,,,,, there must be a pretty portable hand held device for swaging/crimping hoses while still on the machine. In my instance, there was only about 10-12" of hose which was still accessible.
I've looked at offerings from Vapormatic, Kramp and a few others, they all seem bulky and possibly heavy. I think a crimping head with a remote hand operated pump is the thing. However, I don't see the need for a machine to do ¼" up to 1".. ¼" to ½" would fix most agricultural machinery hoses.
We use the 2 piece system and have a good stock of all sizes but a 3 phase swaging machine isn't very portable..
