Skive is where you cut the outer rubber off.

I use a slitting disc on a 4" grinder

I don't bother with the settings,You just know how hard to crimp them after a few (not had any fail)

I just run a hacksaw down them, learned from my time spent working for Parker. I was the "hose doctor"

Partly true ...if you have the newer Gates Megacrimp dies..the ones that leave the crimpled finish, like a cupcake paper. The older 115,120,130 plain dies were meant for the now obsolete Gates HA one piece fittings. Plenty of us successfully crimping 2 piece fittings with these dies, yes it has to be crimped twice to cover the whole length of the outer ferrule. If someone wants one piece fittings, Vapromatic ones work fine with the old dies. And there is a company in the UK making copies of the HA fittings. Personally I just use the 2 piece fittings and hose from Parquip. Great service, good price same for evryone,no minimum order ,just the carridge charge extra.
hi guys,
just found your posts, has anyone got a crimp chart please for the 115, 120 & 130 dies

Think the chart would only be relevant to the old Gates HA? ? one piece fittings ..which are pretty much sold out by now.
You should be able to get the final crimped diameter from the fitting supplier or manufacturers web site.. measure with a gauge, open end spanner? And set accordingly...After a while you just get the "feel " for the job ..and won't bother measuring..
